Lois Colleen Wiklund

Lois Colleen Wiklund was born October 9, 1934, to Harold and Lois (Sellers) Sparks, in Jasper County, Iowa. She attended elementary school in Reasnor, and was a 1953 graduate of Monroe High School.

On June 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Fred Wiklund at the First Baptist Church in Newton, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: Debra and Darcy. Colleen was a telephone operator for Maytag Company for 33 years, before retiring in 1992.

Fred and Colleen lived in Newton, Iowa, for 30 years, and in Otley for 19 years. She volunteered at East Elementary School for several years. Colleen loved to knit, crochet, and read. Early on, Colleen and Fred loved to travel.

Colleen accepted Christ at 11 years old and was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Monroe, where she was a member and  she taught Sunday School for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Debra (Doug) Kozisek of Council Bluffs, and Darcy (Curtis) Kane of Otley; grandchild: Ian (April) Moore, and great grandchildren Macie Moore, Elijah Moore, and Audrey Moore. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn (Jon) Woody of Newton, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Wiklund parents Harold and Lois Sparks, brother Harold and Ruby Sparks Jr., and grandson Coach Derek Moore.

Private committal services will be held at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Iowa, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Pella. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
