Teresa Anne Yeager, 70, of Newton died on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Edencrest at Tuscany in Altoona. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m., Friday, October 21, at the WallaceFamily Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to Willowbrook Adult Day Care may be left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service.
Teresa, the daughter of Gale and Georgette (DeMeyer) Eaton, was born on November 29, 1951 in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1970. While in high school, a dance team was formed. Teresa’s suggestion of calling the team the Pacesetters was chosen and she became a founding member of the Newton Pacesetters, a name that is still used today. On August 14, 1982, Teresa was united in marriage with William E. Yeager, Jr. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. They were blessed with a daughter, Katie. Teresa worked in service publication at the Maytag Company for 34 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Teresa enjoyed scrapbooking, golfing, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also liked to ride her bicycle and had done RAGBRAI many years.
Teresa is survived by her husband, William E. Yeager, Jr. of Newton; daughter, Katie (David) Williamson of Runnells; grandchildren, Bailey and Braxton Williamson of Runnells; her brothers, Tom (Jill) Eaton of Marshalltown and David (Paula) Eaton of State Center; her parents-in-law, Bill and Marcilee Yeager of Newton; sister-in-law, Barb Twedt of Ames; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Billie) Yeager of Newton and Ben (Michelle) Yeager of Casper, Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Matthew Yeager.
