Mary Frances Pratt

Mary Frances Pratt age 91 of Colfax passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Newton Village.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Colfax United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at the Colfax Cemetery.   Visitation for Mary will take place on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home.  Memorials may be directed to the Colfax United Methodist Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Harry and Mary Juanita (Toney) Paynter, Mary was born on December 30, 1930 in Colfax.  She graduated from Colfax High School in 1950.  On September 26, 1952, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Everett Pratt in Des Moines.  She was a lifetime resident of Colfax.  After graduating from high school, she worked at the Vernon Company in Newton.  She also worked as Site Manager at the Colfax Senior Citizens Center for 17 years finally retiring in 2009.  She was a 70 plus year member of the Colfax United Methodist Church. Wesleyan Circle and the Red Hat Society in Colfax.  Mary loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and football, the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota VIkings.  She enjoyed cooking and entertaining on the holidays for the entire family.

Those left to honor her memory include her three children, Jackie (Pat) Vaughan, Jody Wilson and Jim (Erin) Pratt; five grandchildren, Joel (Farren Kerr) Vaughan, Jared (Rachel Buse) Vaughan, Mallory (Todd Lorensen) Wilson, Trent Pratt and Lexy Plumb; a great grandson, Adonis; a brother Bill (Shelly) Paynter and many wonderful friends.  Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Bill in 2009; a grandson, Cory; brothers, Jack and Paul Paynter and two sisters, Bobbie Vacha and Jayne Moomaw.
