Scott Keith Auten

Scott Keith Auten, 55, of Newton died on Friday, February 18, 2022, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials to The ALS Association or the Global Teen Challenge may be left at the funeral home.

Scott, the son of Walter “Keith” and Laura “Lynn” (Diehm Easterla) Auten, was born on August 2, 1966, in Des Moines. He graduated from Newton High School in 1984. Scott was very artistic and enjoyed drawing. He loved to make gifts for his friends and family. Scott was also an avid and lifelong fan of the Raiders and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Scott’s family is proud to say that he chose to be an organ donor and that his wishes were honored at the end of his life.

Scott is survived by his sons, Tanner Auten and Alex Auten; mother, Lynn Auten; siblings, Eric (Anne) Easterla and Julie (Chris) Wade; special friend, Robyn Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Jay and Bonnie Auten and Fred and Ada Diehm.
