Karen Lynn Christy

Karen Lynn Christy, the daughter of Jon and Evelyn Irene (Stevenson) Christy, was born July 30, 1969, in Newton. Karen graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1987.

Karen had worked in customer service for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa, Iowa Telecom and Forbes Office Solutions. Karen enjoyed riding the train in Boone, model trains, car rides, word searches, adult coloring books and watching the buffalo at Mariposa.

Karen died Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at her home in Newton. She was 52 years old. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Jon; her mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Jay Williams; and her daughter, Moriah Hoskins.

Those left to honor Karen’s memory include her fiancé, Mick McGinley; her daughter, Amber (Joel) Callison; stepsons, Jared McGinley and Josh McGinley; her granddaughters, Amelia and Bailey Callison; her brother, Jon (Jill) Christy; her two aunts; her two stepsisters; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at the Newton American Legion, 1101 W. Fourth St. S. Memorials may be left in Karen’s name. Please make checks payable to Amber Callison. Pence-Reese Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
