Larry A. Sandberg

Larry A. Sandberg, 81, of Lake Mary, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at home with his family. A memorial service will be at a later date, through Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home.

Larry, the son of Clarence and Lorraine (Jensen) Sandberg, was born Oct. 26, 1939, in Kasson, Minn. and graduated from Newton High School in 1957. He was united in marriage with Elsie Duchesneau Dec. 27, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.

They were blessed with five children, Teresa, Julie, Carol, Larry (Slugger) and Kristin (deceased). Larry served in the United States Navy for 20 years as a nuclear weapons officer, while graduating from University of Kansas in 1968 BA in art and math and Oklahoma and Chapman Universities 1986 with an MA in science - human relations/resources. After retirement, he worked for Martin Marietta and Universal Studios as a project planner. Larry also taught many workshops and courses in transactional analysis both in the military and through his own company throughout his lifetime.

Larry enjoyed watching his favorite teams, Kansas Jayhawks and the Seattle Seahawks, he also enjoyed traveling, submarine reunions, golf and spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to honor Larry’s memory are his wife, Elsie (Duchesneau) Sandberg of Lake Mary, Fla.; his children, Teresa Gagne of Longwood, Fla., Julie Sandberg of Lake Mary, Fla., Carol (David) Keller of Kennesaw, Ga., and Larry (Tonya) Sandberg of Deltona, Fla.; Larry’s sister, Mary Ann (Lonny) Cox of Newton; grandchildren, Lindsey (Eric) Shiner, Sean Gagne, Joshua (Victoria) Sandberg, Travis (Justine) Sandberg, David Jacob (Sarah) Keller, Taylor Keller and Nicholas Keller; and seven great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Kristin Sandberg.
