Jolane Ruby Snodgrass, 82 of Newton, died Sunday, May 2, 2021, at her home. Services will be Thursday, May 6 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to Hospice of the Midwest may be left at the funeral home.
Jolane, the daughter of Gerald and Ruby (Kloppenberg) Davis, was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Newton. Her family moved to Colfax when she was a child and she graduated from Colfax High School in 1956. On Sept. 26, 1959, Jolane was united in marriage with Gary Snodgrass in Colfax. They made their home in Newton. Jolane worked as a para-pro for the Newton Community School District and later for 19 years at Newton Manufacturing. She retired in 2000. Jolane enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and going to the casino. She loved attending her grandchildren’s events.
Jolane is survived by her husband, Gary of Newton; children, Cindy (Tim) Doran of Newton and David (Deanna) Snodgrass of Arvada, Colo.; grandchildren, William Snodgrass, Jolaina (Dan) Lawson, Tyler (Jessica) Doran and Lindsay Doran (Cole White); her great-grandchildren, Jesse, Mia, Charlie, Jace, Noah, Drake and Dodger; mother, Ruby Davis of Newton; her sister, Crystal (John) Heasley of Iowa City; and her five nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Davis; and brother, Delmar Davis.
