Karen Silverberg

Karen Silverberg, 86, passed away April 4, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A burial service took place April 7 at Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines.

Karen grew up in the Lehigh-Fort Dodge area. She was a graduate of Buena Vista College and received a master’s degree from Drake University. For more than 30 years, Karen volunteered for First Step, Inc., acting as a protective payee for many clients.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Julian, in May 2020. She is survived by her son, Mark (Ellen); daughter, Jean (Ron); grandson, Eric; and brother, Norman Leaf.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Park Centre for their care and consideration during this past year. Memorial contributions should go to the Newton Library Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice.
