Denis G. Wilcox went home to be with his Savior, March 25, 2021, in Tucson, Ariz.
Denis G. Wilcox, 84, was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Cedar Falls, the son of William and Lillian (Gregory) Wilcox. He was a graduate of Atlantic Senior High School, Class of 1955, and Cornell College in 1959.
Denis was well-known in the community, having worked for more than 40 years in the banking industry. He served as president of Jasper County Savings Bank and a regional vice president of US Bank in the final years of his career. During his working years and in his retirement, Denis served on many community boards and commissions, including the Jasper County Conservation Board of which he was a member for 27 years.
Denis and his wife Linda were married June 1, 1990. They enjoyed many wonderful adventures together and traveled to many interesting places. They especially enjoyed their trips to England, Scotland and Italy. For the past two decades, they spent the winter in Tucson, where they golfed and enjoyed the company of many good friends.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Denis leaves behind three children, Cintra (Martin) Godfrey of Eagan, Minn., Jeff (Julie) Wilcox of Urbandale and Craig Wilcox of Alma, Colo.; as well as two stepchildren, Brian (Julie) Jones of Waukee and Angela (Jeff) Carlson of Westminster, Colo. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elaina, Dianne, Stephanie, Gregory, Ryan, Natalie, Eric and Courtney; along with his brother, Jerry (Salie) Wilcox of Ithaca, N.Y.; and many other loving family members including his cousins, Donna (Jim) Nicholson of Clermont, Calif., and Becky Gregory of Smyrna, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Billy Wilcox.
