Edwin W. Miller, 91, of Newton, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. Service times will be announced in the near future. Memorials to the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League or to the Iowa School of the Blind can be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.

Edwin, the son of Eddie and Ruby I. (Brayton) Miller, was born May 11, 1929, at Skiff Hospital in Newton. As a young child he was baptized at the First Christian Church, where he was also a member. Edwin graduated from Newton High School in 1948. He was united in marriage with Loretta J. Martin on June 2, 1950, at the First Christian Church. He worked as a service repairman for The Maytag Company in Newton, retiring in 1979. Edwin was the last Ol’ Lonely Maytag Repairman. After retirement, he enjoyed driving trucks for the sand and gravel company and moving snow in the winter. Edwin was a member of the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. He loved spending time in the outdoors and his hunting trips to Montana with his special friends. In his later years, Edwin enjoyed listening to the radio broadcast services from the First United Methodist Church, where he and Loretta were members. As his time grew short, his favorite tv shows always included horses and cowboys.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Loretta of Newton; daughter, Nina Robson of Newton; three grandchildren, Eddie Rogers of Glenwood, Randy (Amber) Robson of Grinnell and Nicole Robson of Aurora, Colo.; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special “dotter,” Jean Cleere; and many cousins, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Ann Miller; son-in-law, Robert Robson; granddaughters, Shauna Rogers and Mindi Rogers; his brothers, Floyd Miller and William Miller; and his brothers and sisters-in-law.

Edwin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
