P.E.O. chapters AO, HS & ME joined together in their annual dinner and program with 48 members in attendance. Presidents JoAnne Price (AO), Linda Pierce (HS) and Joan Frohardt (ME) introduced new members, celebrated those with memberships surpassing 50 years and honored members who passed away in the past year. A delightful and humorous program was given by “Cousin Annie,” as interpreted by Judy Richmond.
The intent of the annual meeting is to connect all three Newtons chapters to celebrate the International Sisterhood of P.E.O. and also celebrate all Newton chapters’ organization: Chapter AO on April 3, 1894; Chapter HS on April 18, 1933; Chapter ME on April 25, 1969.
P.E.O. is a sisterhood of women that was formed in Mt. Pleasant in 1869. P.E.O. is purposeful and passionate about celebrating, supporting and motivating women. The mission is to help women around the world advance through education.
P.E.O. supports scholarships, grants, loans and Cottey College in Nevada, MO. Locally, P.E.O. gives two scholarships through Dollars for Scholars to graduating senior women.
The theme for this year’s meeting is We Rise by Lifting Others. The event was at McCann Center and Magg Catering provided the meal.
