Newton police vehicle involved in collision on March 22

Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash, no serious injuries reported

Three vehicles were involved in a collision involving a patrol vehicle from the Newton Police Department late at night this past weekend. According to a March 24 press release, drivers from each of the vehicles reported non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local medical facilities for treatment

At 10:59 p.m. March 22, the patrol vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of First Avenue and West Eighth Street. When the crash occurred, the patrol vehicle was responding to the west side of town to assist a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle had emergency lights and sirens activated.

The incident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, which had not yet published a crash report before press time.
