Jasper County Conservation Board will host an Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors (OWLS) program at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12 at Uncle Jake’s Sugar Shack at Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve. The public is invited to meet at the conservation office first at the Jasper County Armory/Annex Building in Newton and the group will caravan and/or carpool out to the park, which is about a 20 minute drive east of Newton. A tour of the shack and program about maple syrup production will be presented at 10:30 a.m. by Greg Oldsen, naturalist with Jasper County Conservation. If weather doesn’t cooperate, Oldsen will present his Sugar Shack program at the Armory/Annex Building at 10 a.m. the usual OWLS program time and location.
The OWLS program is a conservation program that encourages seniors to stay active and learn new things about the natural world.
