Wondering what to read next? Check out our FREE monthly mystery bags for adults! Mystery bags have a different theme every month and contain a surprise selection of 4-5 books and an adult craft. Return the library books when you’re done with them - keep the craft! The February theme is “Meet Cute Must-Reads” and includes a selection of traditional and contemporary romance novels, meet-cutes, and books about love. The craft is a decorated Valentine’s Day candy box. Registration opens Jan. 27. Call the library at 641-792-4108 to register. Ages 18+.

Gory Stories Book Club

Do you love true crime? Join our monthly Gory Stories Book Club! Bring your lunch and join other true crime addicts to discuss a new book each month and share our favorite books, podcasts and documentaries! Copies of the book can be picked up at the library information desk. The February book selection is “American Black Widow” by Gregg Olsen.

Kids Dental Health Storytime

Thursday, Feb. 6, 10:30 a.m.

Join Van Hemert Family Dentistry at the library for a special story time program. Children will learn how important it is to take care of their teeth, in a fun and engaging way. This program is best suited for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers.

Blues Under the Blue Roof: John Resch

Thursday, Feb. 6, 5 p.m.

John Resch performs at Blues Under the Blue Roof! Check out a new live blues music performance every month, all winter long! This event is held in the library meeting room and is free to attend. All ages welcome. This concert series is made possible by the South Skunk Blues Society, The Arts Connection and the Newton Public Library Foundation.

Tiny Art Show

Visit the library Feb. 10 – 24 and view our annual Tiny Art Show. The art show features tiny works of art by local artists of all ages. The art show will be on display through Feb. 24, followed by a fundraiser silent auction from 5 – 6:30 p.m.

Take home some amazing new art while supporting your library! Join us at the library on Monday, Feb. 24 to place your bids on your favorite miniature masterpiece at this very special fundraiser silent auction. Bidding runs from 5 - 6:30 p.m. and we’ll begin announcing winners at 6:30 p.m. Bidding will start at $3 per canvas. Cash and check accepted. Proceeds of the auction will go towards funding library programs for children, teens and adults. We appreciate your support!
