Introvert Book Club

Want to join a book club but just don’t have the time for a regular meeting? This is the book club for you! Each month there’s a new book selection, but there’s never a meeting. Copies of the book are available at the Information desk. The December book selection is “The Santa Suit” by Mary Kay Andrews.

Tiny Art Show

Canvas Pick Up Begins Dec. 16

Display your artistic talents and support the library at our Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction! Pick up a 4″x4″ canvas at the library with a $1 deposit, and create a mini masterpiece at home. Return your completed canvas no later than Feb. 3 to have your deposit returned and be included in our Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction. Art will be on display inside the library Feb. 10 – 24. All submitted art will be included in our Fundraiser Silent Auction on Feb. 24, with proceeds going towards funding library projects and programs for all ages. Submissions should be family-friendly. All ages and abilities are welcome to participate!

Library Closed for Christmas

The Newton Public Library will be closed Dec. 24 – 26 in observance of Christmas. Regular library hours will resume on Friday, Dec. 27.

Library Closed for New Year’s Day

The Newton Public Library will close at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. Regular library hours will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2.

January Mystery Bag

Wondering what to read next? Check out our FREE monthly mystery bags for adults! Mystery bags have a different theme every month and contain a surprise selection of 4-5 books and an adult craft. Return the library books when you’re done with them - keep the craft! The January theme is “New Year, New Books” The January bag will include a selection of recently released books from a variety of genres and subjects. The craft is a cardinal nest ornament. Registration opens Jan. 6. Call the library at 641-792-4108 to register. Ages 18+.

Library Puzzle Sale

Thursday, Jan. 9, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Pick up some great, gently used puzzles while supporting your library! Cash & personal check will be accepted. Proceeds from the sale will go towards funding library programs for all ages.
