Aldi opens in Newton on Dec. 13

Grocery store on Iowa Speedway Drive provides another option for customers

Aldi will have its grand opening 8:40 a.m. Dec. 13 at 375 Iowa Speedway Drive in Newton. The grocery store chain will offer prizes to the first 100 customers and allow anyone from Dec. 13 to Dec. 15 to enter a sweepstakes for a $500 Aldi gift card.

The construction of the new Aldi store located just west of the Walmart on Iowa Speedway Drive is almost finished, and representatives from the company say it will officially be open to customers the morning of Dec. 13 and offer those early risers a chance to enter into a sweepstakes for a $500 Aldi gift card.

According to a press release from the company, Aldi will be offering affordable food and more starting at 8:40 a.m. Dec. 13 at 375 Iowa Speedway Drive. The company’s business model has fans raving across the country about its fast and affordable shopping experiences, exclusive brands and limited time finds.

Aldi will be open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. daily following its grand opening celebrations. The Newton store will offer fresh, organic produce delivered daily, a vast selection of cheese and wine, food for every taste and lifestyle and convenient access to curbside pickup and grocery delivery options.

The first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with a sampling of Aldi Fan Favorites products and a gift card as part of the Aldi Golden Ticket gift card giveaway program. Shoppers can also enter into a sweepstakes from Dec. 13-15 for a chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier,” said Matt Lilla, vice president for Aldi’s Faribault Division. “We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Newton and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”

As part of the grand opening, Aldi will be donating $1,000 to the Food Bank of Iowa. The donation is part of the company’s commitment to donating $150,000 to Feeding America and its network of affiliates through 2024 to help alleviate hunger in local communities.

Aldi will also work with Food Bank of Iowa to ensure excess grocery items are delivered to the local community though the Feedback America Network. In the past year, Aldi donated 33 million pounds of food to Feeding American partners across the country.
