Let DMACC culinary students help with Thanksgiving

Students in the McHenry High School Upper Campus's Warrior Kitchen culinary arts program made fresh bread rolls Thursday morning, part of their chance to cater a larger luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at the school.

The Iowa Culinary Institute Baking and Pastry Arts program at DMACC is currently accepting orders for its Fifth Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Roll Fundraiser, with students in the program ready to prepare delicious, freshly-baked rolls for your Thanksgiving table. Orders may be placed now through noon Monday Nov. 25, at baking.dmacc.edu.

Last year’s fundraiser set a record for total orders, with students preparing approximately 700 dozen – or 8,400 individual – dinner rolls for customers. That impressive tally nearly tripled the fundraiser’s previous record of 263 dozen, which was set just one year prior in 2022.

Rolls can be pre-ordered by the dozen in either white or whole wheat and will be packaged in a foil pan to make them easy to heat up. The cost is $8 per dozen and order pick-up will be available from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 27, at both the DMACC Newton Campus in Newton and the DMACC Urban/Des Moines Campus in downtown Des Moines. You will be asked to specify your preferred pick-up location when placing an order.

To place an order, visit baking.dmacc.edu and submit your order no later than noon, Nov. 25.
