League of Women Voters of Iowa’s Get Out the Vote campaign

Encouraging Iowans to make their voices heard

The League of Women Voters of Iowa encourages voters in Iowa to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

The League of Women Voters of Iowa (LWVIA) is launching its statewide 2024 Get Out the Vote (GOTV) campaign to encourage voter participation in the upcoming Nov. 5 presidential election. With the theme “Vote. It’s that simple.” This campaign is focused on informing Iowans about important voting information, including key deadlines and ways to vote, and driving voters to the polls.

“This election is crucial, and we want to ensure that every Iowan has the information and motivation they need to cast their vote,” Terese Grant, LWVIA co-president, said. “By simplifying voting information and targeting first-time voters, especially those between 18 and 34 years old, we hope to see a strong voter turnout.”

Key Dates to Remember:

● Oct. 16: Absentee voting began — first-day absentee ballots can be mailed or voted in person.

● Oct. 21: Deadline for pre-voter registration and absentee ballot requests.

● Nov. 4: Last day of in-person absentee voting.

● Nov. 5: Election Day — polls open from 7 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Absentee ballots must be received by county auditors by 8:00 p.m.

Iowans can learn more about voting, including new rules on constitutional amendments, by visiting LWVIA’s website. This includes details on Iowa Amendment 1, which affects voting rights for noncitizens and 17-year-olds.
