Cartooning Workshop with Tim Read

July 8, 1 p.m.

Learn how to make your own cartoons with professional cartoonist, Tim Read! This is a free program and open to children in grades K – 6 (grade entering).

An Evening of Music for Little Ones

July 8, 6 p.m.

Music teacher, Rachel Guzman, shares an interactive music program for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers! This program will be held on the library lawn and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on.

Piper the Organ

July 10, 1:30 p.m.

The Central Iowa Guild of Organists will lead children in assembling a pipe organ. This is a hands-on STEM learning program for kids entering grades K-6.

A Place for Escape: A History of the Garden

July 15, 5:30 p.m.

Ever wonder why we plant flowers and shrubs next to our houses, but not next to castles? Historian and author, Kathy Wilson, traces the transformation of the English residential landscape from medieval herb gardens to the untamed cottage gardens of the early 20th Century. A fascinating journey for anyone who appreciates a beautiful garden! This program is free to attend and open to the public.

Dinosaur Encounter

July 16, 1 – 3 p.m.

Children and their families are invited to drop in between 1 – 3 p.m. for a meet and greet with a T-Rex, Raptor, and some baby dinosaurs! Bring your camera!

Sean Gaskell African Kora Concert

July 18, 5:30 p.m.

Join professional musician, Sean Gaskell, for a performance and educational demonstration on the Kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. The concert will feature traditional songs that are the heart and soul of the Kora’s musical repertoire, in addition to some of his own personal compositions. This program is free to attend and open to the public. No registration required.
