Berg Middle School principal to resign at the end of the year

Students will be supported by interim principal to finish 2023-2024 school year

Bret Miller, the principal of Berg Middle School, submitted his resignation to the Newton Community School District earlier this week, which will be acted upon by the school board at the Nov. 13 meeting, according to a letter sent to Cardinal families. The resignation will be effective at the end of the year.

In the letter, it states Miller will be on leave through the end of the school year for personal reasons. Superintendent Tom Messinger said there will be an interim principal in place to finish the 2023-2024 school year supporting the students and staff of Berg Middle School.

The search for a new principal will start at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year after the resignation has been acted on by the school board.
