NCT to present ‘Girls Weekend 2, The Bachelorette Party’

Newton Community Theatre presents “Girls Weekend 2, The Bachelorette Party.”

The girls are back at Dot’s cabin, ready for an epic bachelorette party complete with party favors and box wine. However, no one is ready for a smackdown, an unsolved mystery, and an ex who just can’t stay away. Thank goodness for the wine. It’s going to take a glass or two to get through this girls’ weekend. Hey, don’t judge.

“Girls Weekend 2, The Bachelorette Party” is written by Karen Schaefferis, a playwright in Des Moines. Schaeffer’s plays include “Girls’ Weekend: The Bachelorette Party” (Girls’ Weekend 2), “Choices! Choices!” and “A Murder for Christmas.” Schaeffer won the American Association of Community Theatre AACT NewPlayFest with “Unpacking Mother,” and received special recognition at the 2015 Cloris Leachman Awards for “Girls’ Weekend.” Join NCT to meet the playwright, Karen Schaffer, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30.

Productions will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and 23; at 2 p.m. Sept. 24; and at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28, 29 and 30. Tickets are now available — $15 for adults, $10 for youth. The box office will be staffed from noon to 1 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. weekdays and one hour before each show.
