Newton Main Street will host a Retro Building Tour from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the former Montgomery Ward building, 118 N. Second Ave E. in downtown Newton. This event is a free will donation fundraiser for Newton Main Street’s Economic Vitality Committee.
Jerry Schwaller, the owner and developer for the historic building in Newton’s downtown will share his vision for the space, while you hear about the history of the building. Photos and vision boards will be on the different levels for you to imagine what the redeveloped site will look like.
Schwaller was awarded the Main Street Iowa award for his façade improvement at 115-118 W. Second St. N., the Northwest Mutual building on the west side of the square.
