Join prairie rematriation advocate and consultant Shelley Buffalo of the Meskwaki Tribe as she leads attendees on a prairie tour. This field day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28 at the Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge in Prairie City, and will consist of an indoor nature center tour and an outdoor prairie walk. Buffalo will discuss how to holistically manage prairie landscapes to support biodiversity. She will also discuss the cultural relevance Iowa’s prairie had, and still has, to the Meskwaki and other local Tribes.
A lunch featuring Meskwaki traditional food will follow the indoor tour.
