Newton FFA shines at State FFA Convention

The 95th Iowa FFA Leadership Conference took place April 17 and 18. Over these two days, the members of the Newton FFA chapter showcased their skills through contests, awards and musical performances.

Cadie Horn was named state champion in the Equine Science proficiency award area. Tyler Guy, Wesley McElroy, Lauren Van Manen, Cadie Horn, Aryssa Hinderberger, Jocelyn Wells and Kinley Rutter received the Iowa FFA Degree. This is the highest degree the state can bestow upon a member.

Tyler Guy, Madelyn Adkison, Landon Menninga and Austin Storm placed fourth Gold in the Farm Business Management CDE. The Poultry Evaluation team of Lauren Van Manen, Wesley McElroy, Owen Guldberg and Emma Davis placed 13th and received a gold rating.

Cadie Horn participated in the Ag Broadcasting LDE competition and received a silver rating. Solar Anderson received a Gold rating and Triniti Stunkel received Silver in the Greenhand Quiz contest. Libbie Keith, Nathan Hauber and Kathryn Albertson participated in the state band. Wesley McElroy and Madelyn Adkison took part in the choir performances. They also participated in the state talent show where they performed the song “Carrying Your Love With Me” by George Strait.
