Union Drive Project underway

Work is well underway on the reconstruction of Union Drive. Pavement removals have been completed from North Seventh Avenue West to the north of North Ninth Avenue West, and grading work has begun. Storm sewer installation began earlier this week but was delayed when a conflict with an existing water main was discovered. The City of Newton Utility Department will work on lowering a short portion of the water main early next week to allow the storm sewer work to continue. Reilly Construction will bring in a second crew in the coming weeks to begin the water main replacement portion of the project between North Fourth Avenue West and North Seventh Avenue West.
