April Mystery Bag

Wondering what to read next? Check out our FREE monthly mystery bags for adults! Mystery bags have a different theme every month and contain a surprise selection of 4-5 books and an adult craft. Return the books when you’re done with them — keep the craft! The April theme is “The Great Outdoors,” and will include a selection of fiction and nonfiction books about animals, nature, and outdoor adventures. The craft is a teacup bird’s nest. Registration opens March 27. Call 641-792-4108 to register. Ages 18+.

Jim Gill’s Sing-A-Thon of Celebrated Songs

Saturday, April 1, 1:30 p.m.

DMACC Auditorium

Jim Gill is known for his style of active music play, which will entertain kids from ages 0-12. Jim promises, in concert, to share a non-stop selection of sing-alongs, dance-alongs, finger plays, and tongue twisters. He’ll be providing an afternoon of music, movement, and fun in Newton on Saturday, April 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Newton DMACC Auditorium. The free concert is sponsored by ISU Early Care & Education, DMACC of Newton and JMP Early Childhood Iowa and is hosted by the Newton Public Library. Blues Under the Blue Roof

Thursday, April 6, 5 p.m.

Join musician Bob Pace for a live blues music concert at the library! This event is free to attend and will be held inside the library meeting room. Music lovers of all ages are welcome to attend. This program is sponsored by the Arts Connection, South Skunk Blues Society, and the Newton Public Library Foundation.

New B.Y.O.B Book Club

Thursday, April 20, 3 p.m.

Join our NEW afternoon book club for adults! Choose your own book to read, based on our monthly theme, and share what you read at the meeting. It’s like a potluck for books! The April theme is “Mystery”.

Spring Book Swap

May 1, 5 – 6:30 p.m.

Clean out your bookshelves and pick up some new-to-you books at our autumn book swap! Drop off your gently used books at the library April 24 - 29 and pick up a book swap ticket for each book you bring in. Bring your tickets back on May 1, between 5 and 6:30 p.m. to pick out new books from the swap to take home! Books should be in good condition, very clean, and gently used.
