• Brandon L Moyer, 30, of Newton is charged with domestic abuse assault for an incident at 9:21 a.m. Feb. 8 on South 17th Avenue West. Officers were called to the location for a domestic assault in progress where the victim had left the location. Moyer told officers he and victim were having a discussion when it became heated. He admitted to hitting the victim in the face leaving marks. Officers spoke with the victim who had blood on the lips and mouth and red marks and scratches similar to a hand print on the face. The victim said the verbal argument became heated quickly and when Moyer blocked the victim from leaving, the victim pushed through and Moyer then struck the victim on the side of the face. Moyer was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Baylee S. Loupee, 27, of Newton, is charged with two counts of forgery after officers were called to 832 S. 13th Ave. E. at 8 a.m. Jan. 24. Officers were dispatched to Capstone in reference to two rent checks that were cashed. A payee at Capstone said that two clients had contacted them that their rent had not been paid. Officers found the checks were cashed by Loupee after it was endorsed “Pay to the order of Baylee Loupee.” Loupee did not have permission to cash/deposit the checks and is not an employee of the residence. She was cited and ordered to appear.
• Eric A. Klingensmith, 50, of Newton, is charged with harassment after officers were called at 2:12 p.m. Feb. 3 to East 12th Street North. Officers spoke with the victim who had been receiving emails from Klingensmith stating “I have my guns,” “I’m going to kill you,” “On the way” and “I’m not alone.” While officers were there, the victim received a message stating “Cops aren’t a smart choice.” Officers located Klingensmith at his residence. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
