Several community organizations held the inaugural Tour Newton bus tour on November 10. The bus, which was donated by Hawkeye Stages, started and ended the tour at DMACC Newton Campus and featured Newton resident Jon Dunwell as the tour guide. The route highlighted a variety of points of interest to those who were newer to the community – whether they just moved to town or started a new job at a local employer.
The goal of this initiative was to introduce a new way to get to Know Newton, while also meeting others from the community! After the tour, the attendees were given gift bags with maps of downtown, a historical walking tour guide, and information about a variety of Newton community events. Food was provided by the ICI baking program at DMACC and Sveta Miller, a sample of local craft beer from Gezellig Brewery Co. was offered and the Newton YMCA, Newton Community School District and Newton Christian School were on hand to share information.
Did you miss this event? No worries – there will be another on in March 2023! Have questions? Reach out the DMACC Newton, Newton Main Street, Newton YMCA, the Newton Chamber of Commerce and the Newton Development Corporation.
