Kniff McCulla easily wins HD37 race

In Jasper County, the Republican challenger received 70% of the votes

Barb Kniff McCulla handily won the Iowa House District 37 race. According to preliminary results from auditor’s offices from three regions, the Republican candidate has received about 75 percent of the votes from Jasper County, Marion and Mahaska Counties.

In Jasper County, McCulla received 1,822 votes out of a total 2,596 votes, or 70.18 percent. Democratic candidate Mike Overman received 773 votes, or 29.78 percent. The Democratic challenger did not appear in any candidate forums in Jasper County, nor did he participate in the paper’s candidate Q&As.

McCulla did not immediately respond to Newton News for comment on the win.
