Ag chemical dealer meeting to provide timely updates

Meeting will include insight into the latest in crop pests and ag nutrient information

AMES — Each growing season presents its own challenges. Prepare for the 2023 growing season by attending the Ag Chemical Dealer Update meeting presented by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Dec. 13 in Nevada.

Ag input providers will be able to meet with extension specialists to review current research, discuss new pests and learn of new management recommendations.

“This meeting offers a valuable opportunity to prepare for the next growing season with new crop management information,” Meaghan Anderson, field agronomist with ISU Extension and Outreach, said. Additionally, attendees can receive their 2022 weed, insect, and disease commercial applicator continuing instruction in this one comprehensive meeting.”

Topics to be covered include a review of the 2022 growing season, soybean gall midge management, new soil fertility research and recommendations and two interactive sessions participants will rotate through. The interactive sessions will feature herbicide use and safety and disease management topics.

The meeting also offers Iowa Commercial Pesticide Applicator recertification in categories 1A, 1B, 1C for calendar year 2022. Recertification is included in meeting registration. Attendance at the entire meeting is required for recertification.

Additionally, meetings are approved for Certified Crop Adviser credits (0.5 soil and water management, 1.0 nutrient management, and 4.0 pest management, which includes the optional applicator training session).
