Republicans pop off a few rounds for trap shoot fundraiser

Jasper County GOP invite Rozenboom, Kniff McCulla, Miller-Meeks, Naig, Gregg

Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks, center, competes in a trap shoot alongside Iowa Sec. of Agriculture Mike Naig and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg on Sept. 17 at the Jasper County Gun Club.

Despite being pelted by raindrops, Republicans still showed up to pelt a few clay pigeons for a trap shoot fundraiser Sept. 17 at the Jasper County Gun Club.

The Jasper County Republican Party organizes a trap shoot every year to raise money and promote their candidates. While initially a grassroots fundraiser, the event has since grown into a large moneymaker for the party and has hosted high-profile GOP officials like Gov. Kim Reynolds and U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst.

Rep. Jon Dunwell provided live commentary as shooters lined up their shots, and he also interviewed a number of candidates and officials, including:

Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, Iowa Sec. of Agriculture Mike Naig, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Sen. Ken Rozenboom, Iowa House candidate Barb Kniff McCulla and Jasper County Supervisor Brandon Talsma. While Dunwell mostly kept topics to the fundraiser, some did promote their campaigns or issues.

More details to come.
