Miller-Meeks to attend town hall Aug. 18 in Newton

Congresswoman running for Iowa’s 1st District will be at Legacy Plaza

U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, of Iowa’s Second Congressional District, will be the special guest in a town hall hosted by the America First Agenda at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 in the DMACC Conference Center of Building 16 at Legacy Plaza, 403 W. Fourth St. N., in Newton. Visitors are encouraged to RSVP.

Miller-Meeks, a Republican, is running for Iowa’s redistricted first congressional district, which includes Jasper County. The congresswoman will be accompanied by Linda McMahon, the former administrator of the Small Business Institute, and Matt Whitaker, the former acting U.S. Attorney General.

Of note, McMahon serves as chair of the America First Policy Institute while Whitaker serves as co-chair of the America First Policy Institute’s Center for Law & Justice. State Rep. Christina Bohannan, a Democrat from Iowa City, is running against Miller-Meeks for the District 1 seat.
