Bev Price has been chosen as one of the Democratic nominees for the Jasper County Board of Supervisors race, according to preliminary results of the primary election posted by the auditor’s office. However, the remaining candidates did not receive at least 35 percent of the vote and will go to a nomination convention.
Of the 3,121 ballots submitted, Price received the most votes with 1,346 votes, or about 43.13 percent. Following about 300 votes behind was Pam Olson, who garnered 1,066 votes or 34.16 percent. Scott DeVries received 696 votes, or 22.30 percent. The remaining 13 votes were write-ins.
In a statement to Newton News, Price thanked residents who helped with her campaign and took the time to vote for her. But there is still a lot of work left to do, Price said, to spread her message of the importance of collaboration and “respectful and responsible leadership.”
“I’m humbled by the support I have been shown over the past several weeks,” Price said. “We truly are stronger together.”
