Dunitz Scholarship winners announced

The Dunitz Memorial Music Scholarship is an annual scholarship supported by Jeri Dunitz, for use by Newton Senior High School students to attend Summer Music Camps. Both Dunitz and her late husband have been ardent band supporters for many years.

Each year, Dunitz provides eight scholarships yearly for use toward student camp expenses. Students apply for the scholarship by submitting an essay of why they are deserving of the scholarship, two letters of recommendation and a resume of their activities and achievements. Scholarship winners are chosen based upon character, musicianship, and dedication to the Newton Band Program. Due to Dunitz’s generosity, students are provided an opportunity to better themselves and the band program.

This year’s Dunitz Music Scholarship winners are: Collin Buchli who will be attending the Simpson College Jazz Camp and Maria Zhang who will be attending Legends Drum and Bugle Corps Camp.
