PEO Chapter ME donates to Newton Project AWAKE

P.E.O. Chapter ME has donated $150 to Newton’s Project AWAKE (A Winning Answer to a Kept Environment). The chapter recognizes Project AWAKE’s contribution to the community’s nature, art, beautification and education thereof. The non-profit AWAKE manages the Newton Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and contributes to the betterment of the Newton community. Among the many areas of focus, Project AWAKE has encouraged the preservation of open spaces, natural features, and historic landmarks and areas.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is a philanthropic and educational organization interested in bringing to women increased opportunities for higher education. There are approximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with nearly 240,000 active members. Chapter ME was organized in Newton in 1969.
