Public hearing dates set for Co-Line Urban Renewal Area

County to present plans at Dec. 14 meeting in courthouse basement

Civic-minded county residents should mark their calendars for the morning of Dec. 14. because Jasper County will be presenting a new Urban Renewal Plan to the public.

The plan, which has been in the works since January, will address and lay out plans for the construction of Co-Line Manufacturing’s new facility.

“I can’t give you the exact location, but I do know that it is located in the southeast corner of the county,” Jasper County Auditor Dennis Parrot said. “I can’t give any exact detail yet, but the entire plan will be made available to the public at the Dec. 14 meeting.”

The plan will be presented during public hearings, which will first be held 11 a.m. Dec. 14 in the basement conference room of the Jasper County Courthouse. During that same time, a consultation will be held between Jasper County, the state and all affected taxing entities concerning the proposed Co-Line Urban Renewal Area.

The board of supervisors also set public hearing dates to authorize the proposed Co-Line Urban Renewal Plan for a proposed Co-Line Urban Renewal Area in Jasper County, as well as a notice of consideration of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) ordinance in connection with said urban renewal area.

Those dates are set for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 4, 11, and 18 during the Jasper County Board of Supervisors’ regular weekly meetings.

In the coming weeks the plan will also receive input from several different county departments, like zoning, to ensure everything in it will work well with the county’s comprehensive plan.

“The Urban Renewal Plan will have to be presented to the zoning board to see if it meshes with the county’s comprehensive plan,” Kevin Lutters, director of community development for Jasper County, said. “We don’t have the final say, but we can make recommendations.”
