The dynamic duo of pianists, the Vieness Piano Duo, will perform the third show of Jasper County Concert Association’s 2021 concert series 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Newton High School auditorium.
The husband-and-wife duo, Eva Schaumkell and Vijay Venkatesh, have played numerous recitals as the Vieness Piano Duo all across the world. Together, they enthrall audiences with their commanding stage presence, as well as their eclectic and captivating performances featuring a wide range of repertoire.
Vieness Piano Duo has performed tours at the Kultur unter’m in Germany, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the L’ermitage Foundation and The Music Guild in California. The duo’s program highlights include the “Sonata No. 16 in C Major” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and “Souvenirs” by Samuel Barber.
Schaumkell is a German-born pianist whose distinguished career as a soloist and collaborator is well-established across three continents. In addition to winning several prizes and awards in her field, Schaumkell is also an active chamber musician, has a doctorate and is in high demand as a teacher.
Venkatesh is an Indian-American pianist who has been hailed for his technical skills and musicianship. Described as an immersive and versatile soloist, Venkatesh has performed shows all across the United States and Europe. He is also an active chamber musician and is a top prizewinner in piano competitions.
