Newton’s own Paws-N-Claws will be hosting a fundraiser this Saturday to help cover medical costs and raise money for a new adoption center in Newton.
Paws-N-Claws is a foster based rescue in Jasper County that was founded in the Summer of 2020.
“We’re really working on getting our name out there. Last year almost all of our events were cancelled because of COVID, so were kinda playing catch up,” Paws-N-Claws President, Rachel Long, said.
At the event there will be a craft show for local vendors inside the coliseum, a silent auction, and a kids carnival with various activities. Over 30 vendors have already signed up to appear in the craft show.
“This event is a way for us to get out in the local community and encourage people shop local. The carnival will be set up outside to give kids something to do while their parents shop,” Long said.
There will also be a meet and great station set up for attendees to spend some time with the adoptable cats and dogs from Paws-N-Claws.
All of the money raised at the silent action will be put towards both the new Paws-N-Claws adoption center and various medical bills for their animals.
Paws-N-Claws will be opening a new adoption center and office in central Newton at the end of October.
“While this fundraiser isn’t directly supporting the new adoption center, all the money raised is going to where it is needed most,” Long said.
The fundraiser will be held at the Baqara Coliseum in Newton, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday Oct. 2.
