Blood donors needed through winter weather

Winter weather always impacts the blood supply. When snow falls and temps drop, blood drives and blood donations get canceled. LifeServe Blood Center needs to boost the blood supply at upcoming blood drives.

To help ensure the safety of blood donors and team members during this COVID-19 pandemic, LifeServe is enforcing several precautionary measures. Appointments are required. Donors who do not have an appointment will not be able to give blood. Blood donors should pre-screen themselves for fever prior to appointments. Only donors with temperatures under 99.5 will be allowed to donate. Blood donors are required to wear a mask for the duration of their appointment. Donors who do not have masks will be provided with one.

• Kellogg and Killduff Communities Blood Drive, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 at Holmdahl Park, 120 Bolton St.

• Baxter Community Blood Drive, from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 at City Hall, 203 S. Main St.

• Newton Community Blood Drive, 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 18 at DMACC Newton, 600 N. Second Ave W.

• Prairie City and Monroe Community Blood Drive, 7 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 20 at First Reformed Church, 300 E. Fifth St. in Prairie City
