Gov. Reynolds orders flags lowered half-staff Friday

The move is in honor of Lives Lost to Coronavirus in the United States

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered flags to be flown half-staff Friday, Feb. 26 in honor of the Americans who have lost their lives to COVID-19.

DES MOINES — Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff immediately until sunset Friday, Feb. 26 in conjunction with President Joe Biden’s proclamation honoring the 500,000 people who have died of Coronavirus in the United States.

Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be at half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and, other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
