A Colfax man who won a $100,000 lottery prize said his big win brought a sense of relief.
“Relief that I know now that for a while, my finances are taken care of,” Michael Endersbe told officials Aug. 15 as he claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Clive.
Endersbe, 49, won the 24th top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “$100,000 Mega Crossword” scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Casey’s, 1203 N. Walnut St. in Colfax, and scratched it off that night at a local bar.
He thought the ticket was a non-winner until he scanned it with the Iowa Lottery mobile app.
“I looked down, saw what it was worth and I turned to my wife and I let her look at it,” he said. “I said, ‘Tell me, does that say what I think it says?’ She got more excited than I did.”
Endersbe bought a round for everyone in the bar to celebrate his big win and said he hasn’t decided what he’ll do with the rest of his winnings.
