Kenneth M. Schultz, 88, of Newton, died on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Park Centre in Newton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service and again after the service with a lunch at the church. Memorials to the Community Heights Alliance Church may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Ken, the son of Alfred and Mary (Teller) Schultz, was born on May 25, 1933, in Newton. On August 17, 1958, Ken was united in marriage with Frances ”Fran” Halferty in Chariton. He was an electrical contractor and owned Ken’s Electric for over 60 years. Ken was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church. He enjoyed bicycling, canoeing, camping, and making homemade ice cream. Ken was a connoisseur of old cars and loved working on and riding in his 1948 Jeep, that he worked on with his son Mark.
Ken is survived by his children, Lori Gardner of Carlisle and Mark (Desiree) Schultz of Peyton, Colorado; grandchildren, Krysta (Ian) Stenzel, Jordan (Katie) Schultz, Kolburt (Kellie) Schultz, Hannah (Isaac) Wiggers, Kendyll (Chris) Woods, and Micah Schultz; great-grandchildren, Aabrielle, Randy, Zara, Charles, Reagan, Anderson, Jackson, Hudson, McCoy, and Oliver; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances Schultz in 2021; sisters, Dorothy Schultz and Margaret Miller; and brothers, Ray Schultz and Robert Schultz.
