Kathryn Marie Freland was born Sept. 19, 1928, to parents Samuel and Mary (Reece) Freland in rural Marshall County. She attended school within Rhodes alongside her six siblings.
On April 12, 1948, Kathryn was united in marriage to the love of her life, Miles Hayes in Nevada. Together they began a family together raising their children Darrel, Karen and Ronald. Over the years, Katie worked at Donnelley Marketing where she would eventually retire.
In her free time, Katie loved to decorate her house from top to bottom for every holiday, tending to her flower gardens around the house, reading books, doing jigsaw puzzles and various puzzle books, listening to country music and spending time with family and her friends.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, Darrel Hayes, Karen Tyler and Ronald (Deb) Hayes; her grandchildren, Clayton (Colleen) Hayes, Angel (Craig) Rotert, Crystal (Brian Thompson) Day, Christopher (Michelle) Hayes, Michael (Kari Cassidy) Hayes and Aaron Hayes; her nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Donald (Dee) Freland and Canda Greene; alongside numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Miles; daughter, Sharon Hayes; her grandson, Robbie Hayes; her siblings, Mildred, Alice, Charles “Bud” and John; and her parents, Samuel and Mary Freland.
