Anna Marie Russell

Anna Marie Russell, 58, of Colfax, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 24, 2021, at EveryStep Hospice in Des Moines. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28 at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 27 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Memorials may be directed to the Howard Street Christian Church and condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Gary Lee and Lucille (Postma) Alexander, Anna was born March 23, 1963, in Newton. She graduated from Mingo High School in 1981. On Nov. 26, 1983, she was united in marriage to Kirk Edward Russell in Newton. Anna worked as a systems network analyst. Anna loved anything to do with the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, flowers and snowmobiling, but most of all she loved the time she spent watching her children play sports. Anna was also an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Kirk; children, Clint (Myles Park) Russell, Alex (Nikki) Russell and Amy Russell; one precious grandson, Cooper; her mother, Lucy Alexander-Sheesley; and two brothers, Jesse (Marcia) Alexander and Frank (Cheree) Alexander. Preceding Anna in death was her father, Gary; a sister, Sherry; step-father, Jim Sheesley; and her grandparents, Oren and Alice Postma and Howard and Dorothy Alexander.
