NEW SHARON — Colfax-Mingo's boys' basketball team fell behind 15-0 after one quarter and couldn't recover during a 65-36 loss to North Mahaska on Friday night in South Iowa Cedar League play.
Jake Nichols had 13 rebounds and scored five points, but the Tigerhawks just couldn't overcome their slow start. They trailed 35-10 at halftime and was outscored 22-4 in the third.
Colfax-Mingo did win the fourth quarter 22-5.
A.J. Gibson had eight points and three rebounds, Zach Steenhoek tallied eight points and two steals and Cole Bracewell chipped in five points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Joe Earles tallied five points and four rebounds, Cael Bracewell scored five points and Carter Gibson grabbed five boards.

North Mahaska 57, Colfax-Mingo 31
NEW SHARON — Host North Mahaska jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 57-31 home win over Colfax-Mingo during SICL play on Dec. 11.
Brennan Rhone put in 13 points and grabbed two rebounds, but the Tigerhawks fell behind 13-4 in the first quarter and trailed 31-10 at halftime.
Abi Rawlins had seven points, five rebounds and four steals, while Carley Underwood tallied seven points and had two assists. Caylee Cunningham also chipped in four points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals and Kyra Lester grabbed six boards.
The Tigerhawks shot just 24 percent from the floor and committed 30 turnovers.
Layla Hargis collected 29 points, 15 rebounds and five steals to North Mahaska (4-1, 3-1).
