Anne Louise Cloyd, wife, mother and treasured grandmother, passed away Dec. 6, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Anne was born Feb. 17, 1937, in Newton, to Loren and Virginia McGee. After their divorce, she was raised by Virginia and Max “Shorty” McDaniels. She married the love of her life, Gilbert LeRoy Cloyd on Dec. 2, 1960, and they enjoyed life together for 60 years.
She was proud of her job as a babysitter and all the wonderful times she spent with each child and family. She enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles, playing computer games and any chance to beat you at cards, games or Scrabble. Her true gift in life was the love she had for family. Family was everything to her.
She is survived by her husband; children, Alicia (Ron) Bankson, Cathy (Roy) Shepherd, Glenda (Larry) Blumer, Gilbert “Gib” Cloyd, Ray (Carla) Baker and Tim (Barb) Kamstra; sister, Carol (Bob) Boyer; and brother, Carl McGee. Her precious grandchildren are Angie Cody, Aaron Bankson, Nathan Cloyd, Beth Norris, Bobbie Thornton, Jessica Maddux, Jacob Blumer, Ryanne Cloyd (Raye), Hillary Cloyd, Samantha Cloyd, Gilbert “JR” Cloyd Jr., Steven Cloyd, Ethan Ritenour, Alex Ritenour, Mekayla Chamberlain, Brent Kamstra, Justin Kamstra, Derek Kamstra, Lindsey Brashear, Billy Baker, Johnny Baker, Sean Baker and Sher Bruyn Martin; and many, many great-grandchildren, too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Bruyn; sisters, Phyllis Seals and Kay Harlow; brothers, Theodore Sutton and Michael McDaniels.
There will be no services at this time as a celebration of life is planned for the spring in hopes family and friends will be able to attend.
In lieu of any memorial fund, the family requests you please donate to your favorite charity on Anne’s behalf.
