Ronald L. Becker passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

A PRIVATE time of remembrance and celebration of life will be Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the Newton Union Cemetery. The Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. {Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, facemasks are required.} In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of sympathy, memorials may be designated to Ron’s family.

Ronald Lee Becker, 75, was born Jan. 7, 1945, in Chariton, the son of Glenn Roscow and Gladys Marie (Willis) Becker. He was a graduate of the Chariton Senior High School, Class of 1963. He had served his country for several years with the Iowa National Guard.

On Dec. 18, 1971, Ron was united in marriage to Joan I. Quick at the First Baptist Church in Newton. Ron had devoted his life to his family and friends, and a member of the Izaak Walton League of America. Over the years he was employed in the Automatic Assembly Department at Maytag, retiring after 30 years and later retiring as a Night Custodian for the Newton Schools, after 18 years. A broadcast of Ron’s service will be 3: p.m., Wednesday, on the Pence-Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page.

Ron is survived by his wife Joan of Newton; daughters: Jill Marie (David) Warren and Tammy (Jason) Andorfer; his five grandchildren: Colton, David Jr., Isaac, Lyla and Tristan; and his many good neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Dorothy and two brothers: Grant and Kenny.
