WAVERLY — Elie Tuhn and Kailee Conradi both earned all-conference honors and led Baxter's girls' cross country team to a runner-up finish in the Iowa Star Conference meet at Wartburg College on Thursday.
Tuhn was second in the girls' 5K race and Conradi placed fourth to lead the Bolts. Baxter scored 59 points, which was nine points better than Clarksville (68).
Collins-Maxwell took places 5-8-9-10-12-13-19 to win the conference title by 34 points. The Spartans scored 25 points to win. Colo-NESCO (96) was fourth and Riceville (113) finished fifth.
North Tama's Grace Lidgett, who is ranked 13th in 1A, won the race in 19 minutes, 52 seconds.
No. 17 Tuhn was second in a season-best 20:08. Conradi finished fourth in 21:28. The top 10 finishers in each varsity 5K race earned all-conference distinction.
Regan Russell (23:23) finished 16th, Morgan Hansen (24:44) was 23rd and Merrin Ziesman (27:39) came in 41st.
In the boys' 5K race, Baxter was led by Sean Finch in 30th with a time of 21:12.31.
Logan Jones (22:04) was 39th, Keenan Varner (22:14) finished 40th, Callyn Bishop (22:31) placed 44th and Curtis Gliem (22:41) ended up 47th.
Valley Lutheran won the boys' team title with 37 points. Collins-Maxwell (47), Colo-NESCO (63), Tripoli (115), Dunkerton (118), GMG (121) and Baxter (157) rounded out the field.
