Nancy Lee Weston Welsh was born July 2, 1941, in Marshalltown, to Leon Crystal and Orval Sidney (Pat) Weston. Nancy was one of six children, Carolyn Dian Brown (Lou) of Huntsville, Ala., David Tippetts Weston (Deloris) [both deceased], Margaret Ann Meyer Bates (Art) of Centerville, Philip Nolan Weston (Sandra) of Menasha, Wis., and James Allen Weston of Montezuma.
Nancy graduated from Newton High School and Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., with a B.S. degree in education with an English major and home economics minor. She taught junior high and high school classes in Marion, Ind., and substitute taught in several school systems around Muncie, Ind. Nancy also taught English classes at IVY Tech in Wabash, Ind. She worked for Wabash Alloys in the personnel department for five years and also for Available Plastics in Huntsville, Ala., for five years. After retirement, she volunteered at the Learning Center in Greenfield, Ind., teaching adults how to read.
She was married to Wesley Dean Welsh for 28 years and they had three children, Beth Yvette Welsh (deceased), Leane Crystal Welsh Heiber (Todd) of Carmel, Ind., and Mark Wesley Welsh (Andrew) of San Francisco, Calif. Wes and Nancy also have one granddaughter, Katie Beth O’Daniel, daughter of Leane.
Nancy was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and served on the church council, a member of the church knitting group and the Glen Park Library knitting group. She also volunteered at the San Francisco Botanical Garden.
In lieu of flowers memorials/donations can be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, Hospice by the Bay in San Francisco, Calif., or to the person’s favorite charity.
