Five Bolts earn all-conference baseball honors in Iowa Star

Five Baxter Bolts baseball players earned all-conference honors in the Iowa Star Conference's South Division this summer.

Freshman Jake Travis and senior Carter Nelsen were both first-team selections, while second-team honors went to senior Cole Damman and sophomore Rory Heer. The Bolts' honorable mention selection was freshman Cody Damman.

Baxter finished third in the conference standings at 4-4. North Tama won the league with a perfect 8-0 mark and Collins-Maxwell was second at 5-3.

All-conference recognition is based on statistics in conference games only.

Travis earned first-team honors as an infielder. He batted .292 and had an on-base percentage of .419 with two runs, one double, three RBIs, five walks and one hit by pitch. His fielding percentage was .933.

Nelsen was a first team utility pick. He led the Bolts with a .321 batting average and his OBP was .441. Nelsen also finished with three runs, five RBIs, four walks, two hit by pitches and four stolen bases. He did not commit an error on defense.

Cole Damman's all-conference second-team honor came as infielder. He batted .296, had an OBP of .412 and led the Bolts with four doubles and 10 RBIs. He was second on the team with 11 steals and also tallied four runs, five walks and one hit by pitch. His fielding percentage was .765.

Heer was a second-teamer as an outfielder. Heer batted .250 and had an OBP of .400. He scored a team-best 11 runs and led the Bolts with 12 stolen bases. Heer also added one double, three RBIs, six walks and one hit by pitch. He committed no errors on defense.

Cody Damman was second on the team with a .320 batting average and an OBP of .485. He also ranked second on the team with eight RBIs and added four runs, two doubles and one hit by pitch. His seven walks led the team and he did not commit an error on defense.
